Pedego, a California-based electric bicycle company, reports that its sales have hit a record high. Pedego was founded less than 15 years ago and quickly became the largest e-bike retailer in the United States. It started when the founder Don DiConstanzo bought his first electric bicycle to help him climb a mountain near his home. He recalled the "bad" experience of his first electric bicycle, but remembered its most important feature, that is, it made him go up the mountain.
DiConstanzo quickly became obsessed with the idea of finding the perfect electric bike. Although he is annoyed and discouraged by the "poor quality and boring style" currently on the market. At that time, with his history in the automotive industry, DiConstanzo decided to design his electric bike brand, which would inherit his highest standards.
A few years later, after a customer of DiCostanzo fell in love with his design, he decided to open the first Pedego store in Huntington Beach, southeast of Los Angeles, which is famous for its boardwalk and surf culture. Now, by 2021, Pedago has more than 200 retail stores worldwide. International locations include Saint Kitts and Nevis, Mexico and Bermuda. And, with the proliferation of bicycles, Pedego stated that they have surpassed the $121 mission in the past 12 months. This is why their sales have increased by an average of 44% in the past 10 years.
DiCostanzo believes that the best is yet to come. Declaring that the Pedego community is "unique" and without loyal fans, the company would not have achieved what it is today. The CEO also believes that community connections will "continue to expand the footprint of electric bikes." DiConstanzo was standing next to his bicycle. He said: "If I tell you Pedego is the best, it's just bragging." But he said, "Word of mouth is still our most effective advertising.
