Electric bike drive systems supplier Hyena E-Bike Systems has announced a new product release schedule for two new system units designed to meet the needs of heavy duty utility e-bikes and ultra-lightweight e-bikes.

With its outstanding drive, control and system integration technology, also offering a highly connected drive system suite and complete software services, Hyena has partnered with several world-renowned bicycle brands to provide premium entry-to-intermediate e-bike solutions.

Hyena's E-Utility drive system unit is powered by a 750W rear hub drive and features a large 810Wh removable battery. Primarily designed to provide a quick solution to the popular fat-tire utility and cargo models in the North American market, this system package delivers an incredibly powerful torque of up to 70 Nm on the hub axle, supporting pedal assist or throttle actuation.

The E-Road drive system unit has been upgraded to the second generation. Compared to the version released in 2021, its rear hub drive is a similarly modelled lightweight motor that delivers 250W of power and a strong 40 Nm of torque at the hub axle and fits a standard 8-11-speed cassette. A new version of the 250Wh battery can be docked with the Extender, doubling the supported riding range. It comes with an upgraded frame-embedded HMI that can be integrated into the bike frame, usually on the top tube or handlebar. The HMI also features remote buttons for drop bars and flat bars, greatly improving system control while riding.

Both drive systems are scheduled to be officially launched at the 2023 Taipei Bike Show and will debut at the 2022 Taichung Bike Week, preparing bike brands and manufacturers to build 2024-25 e-bike models.
