In terms of bicycle sales, the total sales volume was 20.75 million units. The countries with large sales volume were Germany (4.35 million), the United Kingdom (3.51 million), France (3 million), and Italy (1.65 million). For electric bicycles, the total sales volume was 135. Ten thousand vehicles, the main sales countries are Germany (530,000) and the Netherlands (280,000). The EU bicycle industry employs about 30,000 people.

At the end of August 2013, German Chancellor Angela Merkel gave an opening speech at the European Bicycle Show in Friedrichshafen. According to data released by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, about 80% of households in Germany currently own at least one bicycle and 30%. The family owns 3 or more bicycles, and Germany has a total of 78 million bicycles. It can be seen that the title of “Country of Bicycles” is a deserved name for Germany with a total population of more than 80 million.
