According to foreign media reports, Bosch announced a series of updates for future products, including a new mobile application and a wireless remote control, greatly improving the "digitization" of the company's bicycle drivetrain.
Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems, said that these updates and new products equipped with Bosch electric bicycles are more deeply integrated into the Internet of Things.
Fleischer said, “We believe that fully connected smart electric bicycles will redefine the way of travel in the future, whether it is short-distance trips in daily life or long-distance riding in leisure time. Intelligent systems equip electric bicycles with more intelligence, Comfort and safety to meet the travel needs of the 21st century. This is our way of gradually turning our vision of future electric bicycle mobility into reality."
Bosch's new “smart system” includes the eBike Flow app for smartphones. Bosch sees the application as the central connection with electric bicycles. In addition, it also helps to update the wireless system, including adding new features. The app allows riders to customize riding patterns, automatically record activities, and integrate fitness apps such as Apple Health.
The electric bicycle system can also be controlled without an additional display using the new LED remote control. The remote control's LED uses different colors to indicate the corresponding riding mode. The LED remote control displays the most important information, such as the current battery charging status and support level. It connects to the eBike Flow app via Bluetooth.
Bosch’s latest computer monitor, the Kiox 300, wirelessly displays and records fitness data and updates it. The buttonless color display is controlled by an LED remote control and connected to the eBike Flow app.
Fleischer said, “In the future, electric bicycles will automatically adapt to the individual needs of riders. It adapts to our riding style, suggests routes we like, and safely guides us from point A to point B. It understands our preferences and interests And provide a perfectly customized e-bike experience".
Bosch also released a new 750-watt PowerTube battery, which is the largest-capacity integrated battery provided by Bosch. PowerTube 750 can be charged to 50% in just over two hours, and it can be fully charged in about 6 hours with a 4A charger.
Bosch's latest Performance Line CX drive unit can provide a maximum torque of 85 Nm, which the company claims provides a "natural, dynamic and unique riding experience." The strength, power, maximum speed and maximum torque of the electric assist can be individually set through the eBike Flow app.
Bosch also said that its Connect Module anti-theft function will become more available throughout the product line. Electric bicycles that support Connect Module can be retrofitted to Connect Module in the future. This feature can trigger an audible alarm to deter thieves and track theft in the eBike Flow app.
