German bicycle manufacturer Corratec announced that it is buying 50,000 square meters of land in the university town of Timisoara in western Romania to build a new factory. Corratec is expected to supply the first batch of Corratec bicycles and electric bicycle products from Romania from February 2022.

In addition to Corratec's existing plant in Raubling, Germany, this new plant in Romania will add 300,000 electric bicycles and bicycles to Corratec.

Corratec founder and CEO Konrad Irlbacher said, "We have been unable to fully control our production for the past few months. In order to regain control of the production progress of electric bicycles and bicycles, we must once again assemble in Europe. Furthermore, shorten the delivery. The route allows us to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 700 tons. The company’s installation of solar panels will provide the necessary electricity, so in the future, it will produce electric bicycles and bicycles in an environmentally friendly manner."

At present, Corratec has set up assembly lines and production equipment in the new plant and started testing. The first assembly line will be opened in February 2022, and it is estimated that about 300 jobs will be created in the next 24 months.
